March 21st

Jinx has now been with us a little over 24 hours. He went to the vet immediately to receive care for his broken leg.

Mill creek performed an intake exam and X-rays. (They are always amazing at getting emergency cases in). Just as we thought, he has a gnarly infection which appears to be caused by an animal attack (obvious puncture wounds).

His recovery will be up in the air at this point regarding whether an amputation will be the best avenue for this little guy. The X-rays showed an old fracture at the elbow that has healed and fused in that position. There is no hope in regaining movement there.

The wrist has a recent fracture, but due to the fact that he has a raging infection, working to get the inflammation and pain down is our first priority. It has been draining frequently. It is unclear at this point whether his leg will need to be amputated in the future as we will have to see if it hinders his movement once healed. If it gets in his way and is completely not functional, then that will be his best option. If he can use it essentially as a “cane” it may function as a use for him.

He clearly feels awful, but momentarily gets enough courage to come to you for Churu’s, head rubs and scratches before he tires to his bed. Rest is clearly his best friend for now, as well as his antibiotics and pain meds.

Thank you to those who have donated to his journey so far! We raised $200 towards his first vet bill of $500! It takes a truly loving and kind community to help animals like these. Thank you for thinking of helpless animals like Jinx and assisting with their care!
